We recommend using an acrylic latex product such as Lifeline Interior or Woodguard ITF. Either product should have UV Boose added to the first coat to minimize picture frame effect. Acrylic products allow any moisture trapped in the logs to exit through the coating. Also it does not yellow as do oil based polyurethanes. If you like the natural color variation in your wood then just use a clear finish. If you want to smooth out the differences between each piece of wood use one of the tints. A light tint works like makeup to even out the differences.
Lifeline Interior is a one coat product while the manufacturer of Woodguard ITF recommends two coats.
We recommend using a clear topcoat of Acrylic Satin or Gloss in any areas where water is flying around such as kitchens, baths, spa rooms and greenhouses. These products will give your whole home a beautiful glow when used throughout.
Lifeline Interior, Woodguard ITF, and Acrylic Satin and Acrylic gloss are all water beded low odor products. The can be applied with an airless sprayer and then backbrushed.
