WHAT IS THE LIFELINE ULTRA-2 SYSTEM?
Lifeline Ultra-2 followed by a clear topcoat of Lifeline Advance Gloss or Satin combine to form the most durable acrylic log finish currently available from Logfinish.com. The Lifeline Ultra 2 System forms a flexible coating that expands and contracts to accommodate the seasonal expansion and contraction of wood.
Lifeline Ultra 2 uses a two coat color application to help ensure consistent color on your walls. Lifeline Ultra-2’s high performance polymers encase the wood fibers to protect your wood where the protection is needed,
A protective clear coat of Lifeline Advance Gloss or Satin adds depth and clarity to the wood grain. The smooth surface of the clear coat repels dirt and dust, and makes walls easier to clean when cleaning becomes necessary. The acrylic resin and updated additives in Lifeline Advance, add water repellency and additional mildew inhibitors to your exterior finish system. Lifeline Advance also makes your exterior walls resistant to unsightly dust and dirt. When it is time to clean, Lifeline Advance makes your walls easier to clean, especially when using Log Wash cleaner for an annual cleaning.
Like all Lifeline finishes, Lifeline Ultra-2 and Lifeline Advance are waterborne, environmentally friendly and easy to clean up with soap and water. The Lifeline Ultra-2 System breathes to allow moisture within logs to evaporate, while controlling the evaporation rate to reduce checking.
The Lifeline Ultra 2 Exterior Finish System is greater than the sum of its individual components. This is because the formulations of the two components are significantly different. Each component is formulated to perform separate but complementary functions to produce the most durable finish in the log finishing market.

CAN LIFELINE ULTRA-2 BE USED ON DECKS AND RAILS?
No! Lifeline Ultra-2 is not designed for use of horozontal surfaces such as
decks and rails. In these applications we recommend Lifeline Ultra-7. When
using Ultra-7 on decks and rails, Lifeline Advance should not be used as a
topcoat. Because of the extreme exposure to sun and weather on decks and
rails more frequent maintenance coats with Ultra-7 will be required.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO APPLY LIFELINE ULTRA- 2 AND ADVANCE?
Lifeline Ultra-2 and Advance are best applied with an airless sprayer. They can also be applied with a bristle brush. In all cases after initial application they should be thoroughly back brushed. The products must be applied when temperatures are between 40 degrees and 90 degrees. Lifeline Ultra-2 and Lifeline Advance should not be applied in direct sun. A wet edge should be maintained to avoid lap marks. Lifeline Ultra-2 should be stirred every fifteen minutes during application to insure uniform color. Lifeline Ultra-2 and Lifeline Advance will dry in about an hour but takes 3 days to fully cure.
WHAT SURFACE PREPARATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE APPLYING LIFELINE ULTRA-2?
The log surface should be clean and dry and free of mold and mildew. Steel wool should never be used in the surface preparation procedures as it can leave rust spots from reacting to the water based finish.
WHAT COVERAGE DO LIFELINE ULTRA-2 AND LIFELINE ADVANCE PROVIDE?
The first coat of Lifeline Ultra-2 will provide coverage of 350-450 SF per gallon. The second coat of Lifeline Ultra will provide coverage of 600 to 800 SF per Gallon. The Lifeline Advance Topcoat will provide coverage at the rate of 600 -800 SF per gallon. Future maintenance coats will have coverage at the rate of 800-1000SF per gallon.
WHAT ADDITIVES FOR CARPENTER BEES ARE APPROPRIATE FOR USE WITH LIFELINE ADVANCE TOP COAT?
NBS 30 is NOT recommended for use with any Perma-Chink Systems water based exterior product such as Lifeline Advance Top Coat Satin or Gloss. The additive Bug Juice is appropriate but may reduce the gloss in Lifeline Advance Top Coat Gloss by 30%.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN THE LIFELINE ULTRA-2 EXTERIOR FINISH SYSTEM?
The initial application of the Lifeline Ultra-2 Exterior Finish System requires two coats of Lifeline Ultra-2 followed by one coat of Lifeline Advance Satin or Gloss. After these applications your exterior should require little or no maintenance other than cleaning for a period of 3 years. After three years apply an additional coat of Lifeline Advance to maintain your finish.
Cleaning your exterior walls is an important step in maintaining the appearance and condition of your finish. Exterior surfaces of your home are an ideal settling ground for dust, pollen, and other airborne contaminants which dull the surface and provide food for the growth of mold and mildew. Logfinish.com recommends that you wash the exterior of your log home annually with Log Wash.

LIFELINE ULTRA-2 WARRANTY
Perma-Chink Systems, Inc. warrants that when two coats of LIFELINE™ ULTRA-2 stain and then one coat of LIFELINE™ ADVANCE clear topcoat are applied to bare wood on vertical wood surfaces (walls, posts and other vertical surfaces) according to the label directions, this finish system will prevent the wood beneath the stain from graying due to sun (UV) damage for a period of three years from the date of purchase. This limited warranty may be extended for an additional two years (a total of five years) by cleaning the surface and applying one additional coat of LIFELINE™ ADVANCE Gloss or Satin according to label directions during the third year after the original purchase of LIFELINE™ ULTRA-2 and ADVANCE. Applying more than the coats specified above will void this warranty.
This limited warranty applies only to LIFELINE™ ULTRA-2 and LIFELINE™ ADVANCE that has been applied according to label directions to bare wood surfaces that have been prepared according to label directions.
