The secret behind its durability is Lifeline Ultra-7’s state-of-the-art resin that creates a flexible and tough seal on your log home. Perhaps more importantly than the seal’s strength, the resin also ensures that the seal is continuous, providing protection from holes and gaps that might otherwise develop with a lower-quality finish. In addition it has unsurpassed adhesion to wood.
It’s this continuity that has proven to be much more resistant to UV degradation, color fading and adhesion loss. And just like all Lifeline finishes, the water-resistant film breathes just like Gore-Tex® to allow trapped moisture to evaporate from your logs.

The most performance enhancing feature of a clear topcoat is
that it reflects sunlight. The more UV light that’s reflected from the surface
the slower the color coat will fade and the less the wood fibers will be exposed to
photo-oxidation. Thus extends the life of the entire finish system.

Lifeline Advance™ clear topcoat is a water-based formula that is low in VOCs and meets regulatory compliance in all 50 states.
LIFELINE ULTRA-7 WARRANTY
Perma-Chink Systems, Inc. warrants that when one coat of LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 stain then one coat of LIFELINE™ ADVANCE clear topcoat are applied to bare wood on vertical wood surfaces (walls, posts and other vertical surfaces) according to the label directions, this finish system will prevent the wood beneath the stain from graying due to sun (UV) damage for a period of three years from the date of purchase. This limited warranty may be extended for an additional two years (a total of five years) by cleaning the surface and applying one additional coat of LIFELINE™ ADVANCE Gloss or Satin according to label directions during the third year after the original purchase of LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 and ADVANCE. Applying more than one coat at a time of either product will void this warranty.
This limited warranty applies only to LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 that has been applied according to label directions to bare wood surfaces that have been prepared according to label directions. Contact LogFinish.com to obtain your limited warranty registration form.
This limited warranty specifically excludes horizontal wood surfaces (decks and handrails are not covered). This limited warranty also excludes LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 applied over any existing finishes.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO APPLY LIFELINE ULTRA- 7 AND ADVANCE?
LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 is best applied with an airless sprayer and followed immediately by back-brushing to work the finish into the wood surface. This technique produces the most even coverage and color. Applying in small sections will help to maintain a wet edge and avoid lap marks. Stop your application lines at natural break points such as corners, window and door edges, butt joints. If a darker color or heavier coat is desired, it is best to apply two thin coats rather than one heavy coat. If wood has been media blasted, the use of Prelude™ Clear Wood Primer prevents over-absorption of the stain resulting in uneven and darker than expected colors. Do not apply to hot surfaces or in direct sunlight.
WHAT SURFACE PREPARATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE APPLYING LIFELINE ULTRA-7?
All surfaces should be free from mill glaze and contaminates including dirt, dust, mold and mildew. Old finishes including water repellents and wax must be removed before applying Lifeline Ultra 7. Use only materials specifically approved by Perma-Chink Systems Inc. to prepare surfaces. If a borate-based wood preservative has been applied, make sure it is completely dry. If using Shell-Guard RTU wait 5 days until stain application, if using Shell-Guard Concentrate wait 30 days. DO NOT APPLY LIFELINE™ ULTRA-7 TO SURFACES THAT HAVE BEEN BRUSHED OR RUBBED WITH STEEL WOOL (rust spots may appear under the finish).
If the wood has been media blasted or more than a week has passed since
cleaning, wash down the surface with a solution of Log Wash™ according to instructions.

WHAT ADDITIVES FOR CARPENTER BEES ARE APPROPRIATE FOR USE WITH LIFELINE Ultra-7?
NBS 30 is NOT recommended for use with any Perma-Chink Systems water based exterior product such as Lifeline Ultra-7 and Advance. The additive Bug Juice is appropriate but may mildly reduce the gloss when added to Lifeline Advance Topcoat.
CAN THE ULTRA 7 SYSTEM BE USED ON DECKS, RAILS, AND OTHER HORIZONTAL APPLICATIONS?
Yes. The manufacturer of Ultra-7 recommends that one coat of Lifeline Ultra-7 is all that should be applied to decks, rails and other horizontal surfaces. DO NOT APPLY LIFELINE ADVANCE TO DECKS, HANDRAILS AND OTHER HORIZONTAL SURFACES. Decks and rails are a challenging application because of their extreme exposure to weather and the sun. Because of this exposure risk, the three year warranty that applies to Ultra-7 used on vertical applications does not apply to Ultra-7 applied to decks, rails, and other horizontal applications.
