HOW DOES
X-180 WORK?
X-180 Weathered Wood
Restorer counteracts the weathering process by eliminating dirt, fungus
and discoloration from all types of wood. The product is a safe,
biodegradable, blend of oxalic and inorganic acids combined with a
wetting agent. X-180 cleans weathered wood to remove dirt, mold and
mildew. It restores wood surfaces to the appearance of new lumber.
X-180 will also open up the mill glaze found on newly milled lumber.
Upon a final rinse and several days of drying your wood will have the
appearance of new lumber. After treatment with X-180 your wood will be
ready to accept a variety of wood preservatives and semi-transparent
finishes such as Woodguard and X-100 Deck Finish.

WHAT USES IS
X-180 DESIGNED FOR?
X-180 Weathered Wood
Restorer is primarily designed for use on Log Homes, Cedar Sided Homes
and Decks. It can also be effectively used to clean cedar shake roofs
and to remove mill glaze from newly milled logs and other smooth
finished lumber such as decking.
WHAT ARE THE
BENEFITS OF USING X-180 WOOD RESTORER?
- X-180 is a state of
the art wood restoration product.
- It is safe to use
according to directions, contains no chlorine bleach and will not
harm the environment.
- X-180 cleans and
restores even severely discolored wood to the appearance of new
lumber.
- X-180 does the job
with a minimum of effort and without damaging the wood or the
environment.
WHAT LIMITS
DOES X-180 WEATHERED WOOD RESTORER HAVE?
- X-180 will not remove
any paint stain or clear finish that is in sound condition.
- X-180 may dull painted
and metal surfaces if it is not rinsed off quickly.
- X-180 will not bring
back a natural wood color to pressure treated green lumber since its
color was previously lost in the original treatment of the wood.
- X-180 is not
considered a strong defoliant. However, the use of breathing types
of drop cloths to protect delicate and or adjacent vegetation is
recommended.
- Do not allow X-180 to
splash or dry onto adjacent surfaces. Immediately rinse with water
any residue that comes in contact with adjacent surfaces.
WHY IS IT
BETTER TO USE X-180 THAN HOUSEHOLD BLEACHING PRODUCTS?
Household bleaching
solutions contain Sodium Hypochlorite that can harm the environment and
do not produce a new natural wood color. In addition, using bleach to
clean wood may produce a chemical reaction to the outer wood fiber
forming a film that can cause some paints and stains to not adequately
penetrate the surface. The lack of penetration causes adhesion problems
and can result in stains and paint separating from the wood surface and
failing.
WILL X-180
WEATHERED WOOD RESTORER REMOVE MILL GLAZE FROM SMOOTH NEWLY SAWN LUMBER?
Yes! Mill Glaze is a smooth
glossy waxy film found on smooth, newly sawn lumber which is impervious
to most coatings and must be removed prior to staining and finishing.
Diluted 4-1 with hot water, X-180 will remove mill glaze and open up
the surface to better preservative and semi-transparent finish
penetration.
HOW DO YOU
APPLY X-180 WEATHERED WOOD RESTORER?
On severely discolored wood
surfaces apply X-180 Weathered Wood Restorer full strength. On light to
moderately discolored wood surfaces or to remove Mill Glaze, dilute each
gallon of X-180 with 4 gallons of hot water. Apply using a hand sprayer,
brush or a roller. Make sure that the wood surface you are cleaning is
thoroughly saturated with X-180. Let X-180 dwell on the wood for 5-15
minutes. During dwell time brush the surface with a stiff fiber scrub
brush to loosen dirt and discoloration. Rinse the surface thoroughly
with clean water using a pressure washer set to deliver clean water at
500-1000 P.S.I.
HOW MUCH
COVERAGE CAN I EXPECT WITH X-180 WEATHERED WOOD RESTORER?
A five gallon pail of X-180 will clean 750-1000 square feet of severely discolored wood. On light to moderately discolored wood, a five gallon container of X-180 diluted 1 to 1 with hot water, can clean 2000 square feet of wood surface.
